Bioeconomy and rural development: a shared mission

On the second day of the congress, Brilian took part in a high-level roundtable focused on business perspectives in the transition to bio-based products and services. This session directly aligned with Brilian’s purpose: enabling cooperative, scalable and inclusive bioeconomy models in rural territories.

The panel included top-level speakers such as:

  • Nicoló Giacomuzzi-Moore, Executive Director at Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU)
  • Josep Oriol Bellot Miana, Senior Sector Engineer at the European Investment Bank (EIB)
  • Sofía Ros Palomares, Project Manager at FOOD+i (Food Cluster from Ebro Valley, Spain), representing the EU Bioeconomy Clusters Alliance

Moderated by Víctor Falguera, General Coordinator at BioHubCat, the discussion provided valuable insights into public-private cooperation, funding instruments, and the future of bio-based value chains in Europe.

A project made possible by collaboration

Brilian was also present in the exhibition space with a poster presentation highlighting the project’s core goals:

  • Promoting bio-based business models rooted in cooperation
  • Supporting pilot actions in Spain, Italy, and Denmark
  • Contributing to the EU Green Deal and Bioeconomy Strategy

The presence at ERIAFF was also a great opportunity to present the strategic alliance behind Brilian, a network of clusters, regions, and research partners committed to empowering rural territories through innovation and collaboration.

Because projects like Brilian are not just about technology or business models: they are about building bridges between regions, connecting capabilities, and enabling long-term partnerships that bring impact where it matters most.

Projects like Brilian would not be possible without a strong cooperation network connecting capabilities, territories, and shared visions across Europe.

We will continue working to make the bioeconomy a real opportunity for our rural areas. Find out more about Brilian and our actions at our News & Events section.
