Company: Robjor
Activity: Manufacturing of manicure and pedicure tools
Region: Spain
Partners involved: Paturpat/Aitiip/ Circe / Cluster FOOD+i
Local challenge:
Robjor is seeking to replace conventional virgin plastics in manicure and pedicure tools with more sustainable alternatives without compromising product performance and durability.
The challenge is to identify a bio-based material suitable for injection moulding that is also recyclable and, ideally, industrially compostable.
At the same time, the company needs a nearby development partner to support material optimisation and industrial testing.
Replication opportunity:
BRILIAN provides the opportunity to develop and test bio-based injection materials using potato starch from Paturpat.
Through new formulations combining PLA with thermoplastic starch (TPS), and potentially PBAT to improve flow properties, the project can optimise materials suitable for industrial injection moulding.
Industrial trials with Robjor will help validate these materials for the manufacturing of sustainable manicure and pedicure tools.
Impact: On going
